FAQ
Questions about Ava for Home Services.
What owners and managers ask before they put Ava on the phone. Still unsure? Book a short demo and ask us directly.
Answers describe what is live today. Anything marked Planned is not switched on yet.
Will my customers know they're talking to an AI?
Yes. Ava introduces itself as an AI assistant for your business in a greeting you approve. What most callers care about is that someone answers, takes the details correctly and tells them what happens next. If a caller asks for a person, Ava follows your transfer or callback rules.
Can Ava book jobs straight into ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber?
Not as a standard feature yet. Those connections are Planned and need account access and a feasibility test for your setup. Today Ava captures a complete job request in your AssistCall inbox, or books routine visits into one tested schedule. We never assume a connection works until it has passed a test.
What happens when someone calls about a gas smell, sparking outlet or carbon monoxide alarm?
Ava does not diagnose hazards or give repair advice. Your approved script tells the caller to get everyone out and call 911 or the gas utility from a safe place, and Ava then follows your on-call path so your team knows. Ava is not an emergency service and does not replace 911.
How does an urgent no-heat or no-AC call reach my on-call tech?
You choose the words that make a call urgent and the order of people to try, for example the on-call tech, then a backup, then the owner. Ava transfers to those approved numbers. If nobody answers, Ava tells the caller the request is logged and someone will call back. It never says a technician is on the way unless your team has accepted the job.
Can Ava keep up after a storm or during a heat wave?
With busy and no-answer forwarding set up, the calls your office can't take go to Ava instead of voicemail. Every caller gets the same intake questions and their own summary, and your urgency rules decide which go to the on-call path first. We agree how many calls at once your setup covers, and what happens beyond that, before the season starts.
Can Ava give customers a price or a quote over the phone?
Only the figures you approve, such as your published service-call or diagnostic fee policy. Ava does not estimate repairs, replacements or roof work. It records the quote request with the details your estimator needs and tells the caller when to expect a call back.
Do I have to change my business phone number?
No. Most businesses forward selected calls from their existing number: after hours, when the line is busy or when nobody picks up. We check your carrier's forwarding options during setup. Porting a number to us is possible but is a separate process.
Can Ava answer only after hours, or only when we're busy?
Yes. You choose business hours, overflow, after hours or all calls, with separate rules for weekends and holidays if you want them. Your office keeps answering during the day and Ava picks up what would have gone to voicemail.
Does Ava check whether a caller is in our service area?
Yes. Give Ava the ZIP codes or towns you cover and the trades you offer in each. For an out-of-area caller, Ava says so politely and follows your rule, such as taking a message or suggesting they look elsewhere, without promising a visit.
What does Ava ask on a service call?
Whatever your office needs to act: name, callback number, service address and ZIP code, the problem in the caller's words, equipment details such as brand or system age, access notes like gates or pets, and the preferred visit window. You approve every question. We recommend never asking for alarm codes, full card numbers or Social Security numbers.
Are calls recorded, and is that legal in my state?
Calls to your Ava number are recorded and transcribed so you can review them. Some states, including California, Florida, Pennsylvania and Washington, require every party to consent. We recommend a short recording notice in Ava's greeting. You stay responsible for meeting the rules where you and your callers are.
Can Ava talk to Spanish-speaking customers?
Yes, Ava can hold a call in Spanish as well as English. We test your script, service-area answers and urgent-call rules in each language you need before your calls are forwarded.
Can Ava take payments or deposits?
No. Ava never asks for card numbers on a call. If you take deposits, Ava can explain your approved payment process, and your office sends the invoice or payment link.
Does Ava know whether a caller has a maintenance agreement with us?
Ava can ask and note what the caller says, and your rules can treat members differently, for example sending them to the on-call tech first. Ava can't check membership against your records until a job-management connection is in place, which is Planned.
What happens if a caller insists on a real person?
Ava transfers to the approved number for that time of day. If nobody answers, Ava says so, takes a callback request and sends the summary to your team. Ava never pretends a person has joined the call.
How do I see what Ava did on each call?
Every call has a recording, a transcript and a short summary in your AssistCall account, and new job requests reach the notification destination you choose. Reviewing the first week of calls is the quickest way to tighten the script.
Can Ava screen out robocalls, sales pitches and vendors?
Ava can recognise a sales or vendor call and take a message under your rules, so it doesn't end up on a tech's phone at 10 pm. It is not a carrier-level spam blocker, so some robocalls will still reach the line.
Will Ava answer calls from Google Local Services Ads or my Google Business Profile?
Those calls ring your business number, so if that number forwards to Ava they are answered like any other call. Ava doesn't manage your ads account, reply to messages inside Google or dispute leads for you.
How long does setup take, and how is pricing worked out?
Setup is mostly agreeing your script, service area and on-call path, then testing awkward calls before anything is forwarded. On a demo call we look at your trades, call volume and coverage hours and agree pricing for your business. There are no published price plans.
